As women, we inherently rely on our feminine intuitive knowing when creating—that is our magic. However, to fully express these deep parts of ourselves through an instrument, we sometimes need the balance of structure — a container to hold, guide, and support our feminine flow.
That is what The Ngoni Sanctuary is crafted for.
It’s a space where technical skill meets intuitive artistry, where the structured rhythm of the masculine supports the fluid expression of the feminine. Through this balance, we deepen our musical freedom and open new worlds of possibility, depth, and liberation.
My journey with the kamele ngoni has been one of soulful exploration for over a decade.
The first five years were spent studying traditional ngoni music with masters, building a solid foundation in rhythm and technique. The years that followed were about returning to my feminine essence — finding freedom in improvisation, weaving my soul into the strings and shaping the knowledge into modern feminine approach.
I have walked the path, and now I’m here to guide you along yours.
Over the course of 8 weeks, we’ll dive into foundational practices that allow us to truly embody the musical language of the Ngoni harp. You’ll discover a rich library of musical patterns, sound-healing compositions, and traditional African songs. We’ll create space for both drill and loop practices, flow and improvisation, and by the end of our journey together, you’ll be able to play meditatively, let go into flow, sing and play easily and begin to craft your own songs.
Learning an instrument is not just about notes and patterns — it’s a journey of self-discovery.
For many women, the ngoni becomes a mirror, reflecting our creative potential, patience, and voice – and a tool to reset and heal our nervous system.
If you’ve ever felt…
…. this sanctuary is where those doubts transform into joyful expression.
Fina's music is celestial and mystical that allows for deeper healing.
Yes, you can. The Ngoni Sanctuary is designed for women of all musical backgrounds, including complete beginners. All you need is a kamele ngoni in hand and an open heart to learn.
The Ngoni Sanctuary is hosted LIVE via Zoom. Live classes help you stay accountable, emotionally invested, and connected. Replays will be available to watch as soon as possible, allowing you to fit them into your schedule. Live classes also provide real-time Q&A and the opportunity to play together.
If you are unable to attend the live sessions, don’t worry! You will receive access to all session recordings and lesson materials on the same day, so you can catch up at your own pace. You do not need to attend live to be able to receive the materials.
Throughout the course, you will receive gentle guidance and support from Fina, as well as from the community of like-minded women in the course. We will also stay connected via a Telegram group chat for the entire 8 weeks. Additionally, you will have access to practice materials, MP3 loops, and video playback for further reinforcement of your learning.
The Ngoni Sanctuary is best suited for 12 strings kamele ngoni tuned in D minor, with ‘A’ as the root note. However, a 10 or 14 strings will do as well as long as they are tuned to D minor, with ‘A’ as the root note. Click here for a diagram. If you are needing some guidance in re-tuning, send me an email at fina.ahimsa@gmail.com and I will do my best to assist you.
The Ngoni Sanctuary runs for 10 weeks. However, you will receive video replays and lesson materials weekly, which you can keep forever.
