The Ngoni Sanctuary

An 8-week Online Sanctuary for Women to Deepen Their Musical Artistry with the Kamele Ngoni

Back for a second cycle

(10 Spaces only)

Is your ngoni calling you to connect on a deeper, more soulful level?

As women, we inherently rely on our feminine intuitive knowing when creating—that is our magic. However, to fully express these deep parts of ourselves through an instrument, we sometimes need the balance of structure — a container to hold, guide, and support our feminine flow.

That is what The Ngoni Sanctuary is crafted for.

It’s a space where technical skill meets intuitive artistry, where the structured rhythm of the masculine supports the fluid expression of the feminine. Through this balance, we deepen our musical freedom and open new worlds of possibility, depth, and liberation.

INTRODUCING

The Ngoni Sanctuary

A nourishing 8-week online course crafted for women longing to connect deeply with their musical selves, unlock their creativity and find healing and empowerment within the heartfelt harmonies and soulful strings of the Kamele Ngoni.

Golden Hour
MEET YOUR HOST

I'm Fina! A world musician and multi-disciplinary creative.

My journey with the kamele ngoni has been one of soulful exploration for over a decade.

The first five years were spent studying traditional ngoni music with masters, building a solid foundation in rhythm and technique. The years that followed were about returning to my feminine essence — finding freedom in improvisation, weaving my soul into the strings and shaping the knowledge into modern feminine approach.

I have walked the path, and now I’m here to guide you along yours.

Over the course of 8 weeks, we’ll dive into foundational practices that allow us to truly embody the musical language of the Ngoni harp. You’ll discover a rich library of musical patterns, sound-healing compositions, and traditional African songs. We’ll create space for both drill and loop practices, flow and improvisation, and by the end of our journey together, you’ll be able to play meditatively, let go into flow, sing and play easily and begin to craft your own songs.

Why this matters...

Learning an instrument is not just about notes and patterns — it’s a journey of self-discovery.
For many women, the ngoni becomes a mirror, reflecting our creative potential, patience, and voice – and a tool to reset and heal our nervous system.

If you’ve ever felt…

  • Drawn to your ngoni but unsure where to start
  • Frustrated by slow progress
  • Disconnected from your creativity
  • Unsure if you can truly express yourself musically

…. this sanctuary is where those doubts transform into joyful expression.

In the sanctuary, you will find:

And that’s not all.

Learning music as a woman is a transformative journey of healing, empowerment, and self-discovery. As we reconnect with our inner creative and open ourselves to musical expression, it touches all aspects of our lives. Throughout this journey, you will be guided and supported to deepen presence and awareness rooted in your heart and body to find the freedom and soft power necessary to fully express and embody the woman you are.

"This is not just about mastering an instrument but a deep dive into tools and practices supporting your journey of co-creating with the Ngoni in a way that allows you to reclaim your voice, embrace your creativity and nurture your inner strength."

Yes, you can. The Ngoni Sanctuary is designed for women of all musical backgrounds, including complete beginners. All you need is a kamele ngoni in hand and an open heart to learn.

The Ngoni Sanctuary is hosted LIVE via Zoom. Live classes help you stay accountable, emotionally invested, and connected. Replays will be available to watch as soon as possible, allowing you to fit them into your schedule. Live classes also provide real-time Q&A and the opportunity to play together.

If you are unable to attend the live sessions, don’t worry! You will receive access to all session recordings and lesson materials on the same day, so you can catch up at your own pace. You do not need to attend live to be able to receive the materials.

Throughout the course, you will receive gentle guidance and support from Fina, as well as from the community of like-minded women in the course.  We will also stay connected via a Telegram group chat for the entire 8 weeks. Additionally, you will have access to practice materials, MP3 loops, and video playback for further reinforcement of your learning.

The Ngoni Sanctuary is best suited for 12 strings kamele ngoni tuned in D minor, with ‘A’ as the root note. However, a 10 or 14 strings will do as well as long as they are tuned to D minor, with ‘A’ as the root note. Click here for a diagram. If you are needing some guidance in re-tuning, send me an email at fina.ahimsa@gmail.com and I will do my best to assist you.

The Ngoni Sanctuary runs for 10 weeks. However, you will receive video replays and lesson materials weekly, which you can keep forever.

Music is a doorway to self-discovery and soulful expression.

My sweet sisters,

Most of you already know me and have been connected to me for years, but for those who are new, hi! I’m Fina, a mother to three boys, a world musician, handicrafter, and semi-nomad from Borneo Island who is based in Thailand.

Growing up in an Asian Muslim country, much of my childhood was marked by silence and suppression. I felt disconnected from my femininity and creativity. Everything changed when I left it all behind to travel the world by hitchhiking. Although it was more of a pilgrimage to dig deep into the core of myself, I began to rediscover myself and who I truly am. This journey led me to the kamele ngoni and the West African instrument family, bringing me to Mali to learn from the masters. My path was heart-led, fueled by my love for the instrument and its power to open up my creative channel. It was truly love at first sight, and since then, the ngoni and I have been on a profound, transformational journey together.

I founded Divine Strings in 2020 during the pandemic and opened a little school at my home, where I began sharing music in small sister circles. Still a nomad at the time, it was hard to maintain a solid ngoni community, so I started sharing my music online. That’s when this beautiful online community of Ngoni sisters began to blossom.

It is my dream to introduce this instrument to as many people as possible and my passion to guide women in discovering their musical selves through the ngoni. My grand vision is to host musical retreats for women, where we can come together, share our love and passion for co-creating, and weave our heartstrings together.

I’m beyond excited to finally play with you.
